Meet Karen
I believe recovery is possible, and I believe people deserve to be treated with dignity, compassion, and honesty along the way.
As a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor II (LADAC II) in Tennessee, I bring more than 10 years of experience working with individuals navigating substance use and behavioral health challenges. My approach is grounded in the belief that every person has a story, and meaningful change begins when we feel heard, respected, and supported.
My work is also informed by my own personal experience in recovery. Having walked my own path of recovery for more than a decade, I understand that asking for help can take courage—and that recovery is about much more than simply stopping the use of alcohol or drugs. It is about learning to live differently, rebuild relationships, develop healthy coping skills, and create a life that feels worth living.
I provide alcohol and drug assessments, substance use counseling, and individualized support for individuals seeking positive change. I also offer assessments for individuals who may need documentation for legal, professional, or personal reasons, including DUI-related situations.
I am EMDR trained and incorporate trauma-informed approaches into my work when appropriate. I recognize that substance use is often connected to underlying trauma, grief, stress, relationships, and other life experiences. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where those issues can be explored at a pace that feels manageable.
I believe recovery is personal and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Sessions may incorporate a variety of evidence-based recovery modalities and therapeutic approaches based on each client's individual needs, goals, and preferences. When additional support is needed, I can also provide referrals and connect clients with appropriate community, medical, psychiatric, or other treatment resources to support their continued recovery and well-being.
Whether you are taking your first step toward recovery, working to maintain the progress you have already made, or simply trying to understand what comes next, you don't have to figure it all out alone.
Change is possible. Your story isn't over.
